Stage Manager/ Elf Performer

This is a perfect role for anyone in Theatre or Performance School looking to broaden their experience both in performance and technicality. Santa’s Village is looking for a dynamic individual with leadership skills, drive and focus who is willing to work alongside actors of different age ranges in a leadership position. We are looking for a professional who can both perform in our Elf School Experience for children and lead the team in keeping time and consistency throughout the day.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work during pre-season with the director to record blocking, cues, and script notes for the actors
  • Participate in pre-season rehearsals and assist the director in keeping time and other performers on-task and focused
  • Supervise pre-show activities such as technical and safety checks
  • Run the performers through warm-ups and notes daily prior to performances
  • Ensure that everyone is ready for Elf School opening, in costume, and warmed up prior to park opening each morning
  • Keep all performance team members accountable and responsible for the primary working environments; Daily tidying and maintenance of Elf School, performance spaces, dressing area, and Green Room is mandatory
  • Assist guests by answering questions, providing park information, and other related services
  • Learn and memorize scripts, take cues, and rehearse with team members while keeping a heavy improv mindset
  • Develop your own Elf Name and Character

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with acting, improv and/or any other similar talents is required
  • Experience in Stage Management is preferred but not required as long as there has been education or exposure to the role in a similar setting
  • Broad knowledge of technical theatre considered an asset
  • Scheduling abilities (mentoring and training will be provided) 
  • Physical fitness is required to perform in a full-body and enthusiastic way for children during the summer months
  • Frequently standing and walking in uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, interlocking brick
  • The ability to work in costume in extreme weather. Indoor and outdoor roles
  • Ability to improvise within a structured performance
